How we write and review our health information

We write our guides and service pages to help you understand home health care and Medicare. This page explains where our facts come from, how we keep them current, and how to tell us about a mistake.

Updated

Where our facts come from

  • We base what we say about Medicare on Medicare.gov and on CMS rules, like the Medicare Benefit Policy Manual.
  • We link to the source next to the rule, so you can check it yourself.
  • Tips for recovering at home follow common patient teaching. We always tell you to follow your own doctor and care team.

Plain language

  • We use short sentences and common words, and we write to you.
  • We aim for an 8th-grade reading level or lower.
  • Every page has an English and a Spanish version.

Dates on each page

Our guides and service pages show the month they were last updated.

Some Medicare amounts, like deductibles and daily costs, change every year. When a page gives a dollar amount, it says which year it is for. Check the linked Medicare.gov page for the latest numbers.

If you find a mistake

Please tell us. Send us a message or call us. Tell us the page and what looks wrong.

We check what you tell us. If the page is wrong, we fix it and update the date.

What our pages are not

Our pages are general information, not medical advice. They do not replace your doctor or care team.
